The Bashan Shelter is located in the Upper Galilee-15 kilometres from the Lebanese border. It is the only shelter(sanctuary) within 200 kilometres and receives needy animals from a large area-Golan-Western Galilee-Lower galilee, and of course Upper galilee.
Dogs and cats find their way to the shelter from various sources-they have been abandoned by their owners, the owners have passed away, some were born on the streets, some have been removed from abusive homes by the authorities, some have simply brought themselves. One even arrived with a note on her collar saying she was looking for a better home but it would be a good idea to spray her first because she was probably pregnant.
We never refuse an animal that we know will be abandoned on the road if we say we have no room. And every animal we accept is with the knowledge that we really have no more room!
we recommend spaying and neutering of dogs and cats!
